I Want To Hear From You Guys On This One.

Stress is defined as a state of mental or emotional strain, or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances. I think this sums up life! We as humans are constantly on the go from sun up to sun down and every moment in between. Even our relaxation time, if we have any planed that is, seems to be busy. There is no down time anymore, or time where demands are not placed on us by others, or even ourselves.

I found this quote, by an unknown author, the other day as I was reflecting on the lack of balance in my own life: “The mark of a successful man is one that has spent the entire day on the bank of a river without feeling guilty about it.” When is the last time that you were able to do nothing, and not feel guilty about it? We need to take a look at our priorities, our goals, and what is humanly possible for us to do in a given day, week, or month. Without knowing our limitation it is hard to know when we need to stop.

Before we know it, our kids will grow up, our parents will be older, and life will have passed us by without actually living it. I asked you to write down your goals for the new year back in January. Now, I encourage you to not only re-evaluate them, but to set new goals, and to make sure that you take time to do nothing. I challenge you all to figure out how to incorporate ‘nothing’ into your life. This could just be a challenge to plan a weekend where the normal weekend chores basically do not get done (even if you have to squeeze them in ahead of time), and rather where you and your family spend time together making memories, laughing, and just being together.

So go ahead and feel free to share what you did, or 'didn't do,' for your nothing-ness, and relaxation.
